Their audience arrives asking operational questions
The terms these tools rank for are overwhelmingly operational lookups — IP and port scanners, Windows 10 and Server 2016 end-of-life dates, mapping a network drive, rogue system detection. That is a technician mid-task, not an engineer building a defensible customer solution.
Where Sovergence wins. Sovergence answers the next question: given that inventory, what is the maturity, the gap, the risk, the recommendation, and who approved it.
Nobody owns the compliance audit
Across all four, none of the ranking terms cover a governed CJIS, HIPAA, PCI DSS or NIST 800-53 audit record. “Governance risk & compliance” itself draws 5,400 searches a month in the US at moderate difficulty, and it belongs to no presales tool.
Where Sovergence wins. Sovergence ships framework control packs, link-only evidence attestations, immutable audit history and frozen completed assessments.
Inventory is treated as an endpoint, not a source
Scan and asset tools produce a list. Nothing in their footprint suggests the list is versioned, snapshot-frozen, or carried forward as the parent of every downstream finding.

Demo tools sit after the engineering, not inside it
Consensus and Navattic rank for demo and buyer-enablement language. That is a genuinely different job and they are good at it.

The RFP response is unclaimed by this category
“RFP response software” draws 480 US searches a month with the highest commercial intent in the set (about $28 per click) and is absent from all four competitors’ footprints.

Unclaimed demand in the gap

Three of the phrases we would most like to own — “presales engineering software,” “technical discovery software” and “log volume calculator siem” — return no measurable volume at all. The category does not yet have a name people search for. That is the honest state of a new category, and the reason this page argues from capability rather than from traffic.
